OPUS TOKYO EDITORIAL
Not being able to read or speak Japanese should not, by itself, make you abandon an experience you were looking forward to.
You can start in a language you are comfortable with
Send a short message in English, Traditional Chinese or Spanish and ask about the support available. The language used for inquiries may differ from the languages spoken by individual companions, so we will explain what can be arranged rather than assume they are the same.

“Tokyo, November 12, one woman, 120 minutes. I don’t speak Japanese.” Even that simple message helps us start the conversation. Perfect grammar is not required.
We can explain unfamiliar Japanese terms
You may encounter hotel terms such as kyūkei (a short-stay room rate) and shukuhaku (overnight accommodation), or different stages of a reservation. If a phrase is unclear, ask us what it means. Prices, dates and meeting arrangements deserve clear explanations, with numbers and examples wherever useful.
If you are worried about speaking with your companion on the day, tell us beforehand. Language capability and practical communication arrangements are confirmed individually. We do not want you left to manage a difficult situation without knowing what to expect.
You do not need to perform confidence
If you feel shy, struggle for words or prefer a quieter atmosphere, that is fine. You are here to enjoy your time in Japan, not to pass a language examination.

Questions are always a good beginning
We want to understand your needs, whatever language you use. Tell us what worries you, and we will explain what support is possible.
