I want to meet someone. I do not want to be discovered.

Men, in one sense, have long had many choices. Adult services for men exist across many price ranges, service styles, session lengths and formats. When a man thinks, “This is what I want tonight,” a market has existed for that feeling for a very long time.

    Women face a different landscape.

You may want to be desired. You may want to see a man lose a little of his composure because of you. But you may not want romance, a new relationship, or disruption to the life you already have.

Dating apps introduce another concern: being recognized.

A profile, photograph, age and location create the possibility of being found by a colleague, client, old classmate, acquaintance, or someone connected to your husband or partner.

“I would like to meet a man. But I do not want anyone to discover that I am looking for one.” For a woman with a life worth protecting, that is not an unreasonable wish.

You may not want to change your social position or build a relationship from zero. You may simply want time in which a man sees and desires you as a woman.

Once those conditions are stated clearly, the number of choices available to women becomes surprisingly small. Equality has advanced, but equal access to safe, discreet ways of exploring desire has not necessarily advanced at the same speed.
